Simulated consultation (video)
Most stations: video consultation with a trained role-player. 3 minutes' reading time on the candidate brief, then 12 minutes face-to-face on screen. Simulated consultation (telephone)
A subset of stations are telephone-only — the candidate sees only a phone image while the role-player is audio. The candidate must decide urgency (same-day face-to-face vs routine), gather history without examination cues, and safety-net robustly. Watch for what you can't assess by phone.
Triadic / paediatric consultation
A parent (and sometimes the young person) attends together. The candidate must handle confidentiality (Fraser/Gillick where relevant), use the parent's account whilst keeping the young person engaged, and safety-net both parties. Triggers the paediatric persona railguard automatically when the patient is under 18.
