Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

We want as many people as possible to be able to use the Platform. We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing part of how we design and build the Platform rather than a one-off exercise.

2. How accessible the Platform is

Most of the Platform is designed to be accessible. In particular:

• practice stations are fully operable by keyboard and by typed text — every voice interaction has a complete typed-text equivalent, and everything an AI patient or examiner says is simultaneously shown as on-screen text, so no part of a practice session depends on being able to speak or hear;
• images carry text alternatives, including expert-written descriptions of clinical images such as radiographs and clinical photographs;
• interactive elements show a visible focus indicator when you navigate by keyboard;
• a skip link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump past repeated navigation to the main content — the skip link and focus indicators were verified by a scripted keyboard-only pass in August 2026;
• AI patient replies are announced to screen readers through a polite live region, and the practice-station controls carry accessible names, verified by accessibility-tree inspection of a live practice station in August 2026;
• text and interface colours meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast requirements, verified with automated testing (axe-core and Lighthouse) in August 2026;
• form fields are labelled for assistive technology; and
• the Platform respects your operating system’s reduced-motion preference and reduces non-essential animation when it is set.

3. Conformance status

The Platform is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. “Partially conformant” means that most of the content conforms to the standard, but some parts do not. The known exceptions are listed below. We do not claim full AA conformance.

4. Known limitations

We know that some parts of the Platform are not fully accessible:

• Voice interaction mode. The optional voice mode inherently requires the ability to speak and to hear. The typed-text mode is the full-function alternative: it provides the complete practice experience, including scoring and feedback, without any speech or audio.
• Loading-screen mini-games. The optional arcade-style mini-games shown while a scenario loads are not keyboard accessible and contain animation. They are decorative, optional and skippable — the session continues whether or not you play them — and they are excluded from the conformance claim above.
• Timing in practice sessions. Practice sessions include timing elements that simulate real spoken-examination conditions. The auto-send countdown can be adjusted by the user in the session Controls, and the timed structure of a station is essential to the exam simulation it provides (the essential exception in WCAG success criterion 2.2.1).
• Some third-party-hosted clinical images. A small number of clinical images sourced from third parties may lack full text descriptions. We are working through these.
• Assistive-technology testing. Testing with actual screen-reader software (for example VoiceOver or NVDA) by human testers has not yet been completed, and the Platform has not yet been tested with the full range of assistive technologies and browser combinations, so there may be issues we have not yet found. Testing continues.

5. Technical information

The accessibility of the Platform relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript working together in your browser. The Platform is designed to work in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.

7. Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 28 August 2026, based on our own evaluation of the Platform. We will review and update it as our accessibility testing continues and as issues are fixed or found.
