Geriatric Medicine ST4, 2025 recruitment round (Round 2). NHS England competition ratios
- The lead recruiter for geriatric medicine is North West.
- Geriatric medicine is a Group 1 specialty: applicants need to have completed the internal medicine training (IMT) stage 1 programme or equivalent, and all programmes dual specialise with general internal medicine.
- The interview has two stations of 15 minutes each, with four questions of between 5 and 10 minutes, and takes approximately 40 minutes.
- The specialty decides after applications close whether to assess commitment to specialty at shortlisting; if not, applications are scored on the self-assessment framework and commitment is covered at interview.
- The interview includes an ethical scenario and a question on suitability and commitment to higher training in the specialty.
- To be appointable at interview, none of the ten interview scores can be 1/5, no more than two can be 2/5, and the raw interview score must be 30 or above.
