Oral & Maxillofacial (FRCS OMFS oral)
Sit your FRCS OMFS viva after rehearsing every answer out loud
Rehearse FRCS OMFS Maxillofacial Surgery viva scenarios out loud against a senior examiner who probes your reasoning. Get examiner-style feedback on any station you finish, in seconds.
What is the FRCS OMFS viva, and how do you practise for it?
FRCS (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) Section 2, set by the JCIE, has seven 30-minute sessions: one Intermediate Cases session in which two volunteer patients are seen, two Short Cases sessions in which five clinical scenarios are discussed in each, and four orals: Section A (craniofacial surgery including skull base access, dentoalveolar surgery and implantology, TMJ, surgical dermatology), Section B (head and neck oncology, head and neck reconstruction, salivary gland surgery and pathology), Section C (oral medicine and pathology, cleft lip and palate, orthognathic surgery) and Section D (orofacial infections and emergency surgery, orofacial pain, maxillofacial trauma, aesthetic surgery). Operative surgery, ethics, clinical governance and medico-legal issues may be examined in any oral. MedMock runs the four orals and a Short Cases session by voice. The Intermediate Cases session needs volunteer patients, so it is not simulated; MedMock also omits the second Short Cases session. MedMock lets you practise it out loud against an AI examiner, with examiner-style feedback on any question you finish.

FRCS OMFS viva practice, on demand
MedMock gives you a senior examiner who probes your reasoning, available 24/7. Pick a question, have a spoken conversation, and ask for examiner-style feedback when you finish, scored against what genuinely matters in the FRCS OMFS.
FRCS (OMFS) feedback uses MedMock formative practice dimensions, weights and percentages. These are not the official JCIE G38 descriptors, marksheet or pass mark.
How it works
Choose a question
Pick from the FRCS OMFS questions — all 5 that MedMock runs, or let MedMock surprise you the way exam day will.
Have the conversation
Speak naturally, out loud. The AI examiner listens, follows up and probes further, exactly like the viva.
Get instant feedback
The moment you finish, you get specific, examiner-style feedback and a score — what you did well, what cost you marks, and precisely what to fix before the next attempt.
Practise every station
MedMock covers the questions you will face in the FRCS OMFS viva. Rehearse each one until it feels routine.
Section A

Sample FRCS OMFS questions
Two questions from the topics that come up most in MedMock's FRCS OMFS bank.
“A patient presents with an early floor-of-mouth squamous cell carcinoma. How would you assess and manage them?”
“An 18-year-old has a residual cleft palate fistula with food regurgitating into the nose. Discuss management.”
Example scenarios
A sample of the FRCS OMFS scenarios you can practise, each as a spoken conversation.
“A 45-year-old man is referred for an implant in the UR6 site, 18 months after extraction. He smokes 15 cigarettes a day and the residual ridge sinus floor is at 6 mm — walk me through your assessment and offer.”
“A 60-year-old man with a 3-cm ulcerated SCC of the right floor of mouth on biopsy. Talk me through your staging, surgical management, reconstruction and adjuvant pathway.”
“A 30-year-old man planned for a Le Fort I osteotomy for class III malocclusion. Walk me through your assessment, planning and surgical sequence.”
“A 22-year-old man brought in after an RTC with a panfacial fracture and reduced GCS — talk me through your initial assessment and definitive management plan.”

FRCS OMFS practice — your questions answered
How does the feedback work?
When you finish a question you can have it marked, and the scorecard comes back in seconds — what you did well, what cost you marks, and exactly what to work on next. Scorecards, mark schemes and model answers are included at no extra credit cost.
Can I practise specific FRCS OMFS questions?
Yes. You can pick any of the 5 questions to drill a weak area, or run a mixed set to simulate the real exam.
How much does it cost?
You can start with a one-off £5 taster: 30 credits, which is 30 minutes of speaking practice, with no subscription. After that, or at any time, you can choose a monthly plan, which includes a monthly credit allowance. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Formats change from year to year: check the official candidate guidance or applicant handbook from the body that runs your exam or interview (the Royal Colleges, NHS England, the GMC and others) for your sitting.
