Paediatric Cardiology ST4, 2025 recruitment round (Round 2). NHS England competition ratios
- Paediatric cardiology is not part of the Physician Specialty Recruitment Office coordinated process. Recruitment is coordinated by the NHS England Wessex Recruitment Office.
- Entry to paediatric cardiology training is at ST4 level. The programme lasts five years, with three years of core training and two years in an area of special interest.
- Paediatric cardiology accepts recruits from both paediatric and adult internal medicine backgrounds. Recruits from adult internal medicine must complete some requisite paediatrics training before starting.
- Current areas of special interest include congenital and structural interventions, cross-sectional imaging, fetal cardiology, and heart failure and transplantation.
- For 2027 entry, paediatric cardiology applications open at 10am on Thursday 19 November 2026 and close at 4pm on Thursday 10 December 2026. Interviews are on Monday 8 March 2027 and will all be carried out remotely.
