What is the ACCS Anaesthetics CT1 interview, and how do you practise for it?

ACCS Anaesthetics CT1 posts are recruited through the same Anaesthetics National Recruitment Office (ANRO) application and interview as core anaesthetics CT1, so this is the same interview as Anaesthetics — Core Training (CT1). There are two 15-minute stations on Qpercom, each scored by two assessors: a Clinical Judgement Station, with 5 minutes to read a clinical scenario first, and a General Interview Station. To be appointable you need at least 60 out of 100. MedMock lets you practise it out loud against an AI interview panel, with examiner-style feedback on any station you finish.

About ACCS Anaesthetics (CT1) recruitment

  • Anaesthetics and ACCS Anaesthetics applicants are recruited in one process, so only one application is needed for both.
  • Recruitment to ACCS Anaesthetics is coordinated by the Anaesthetics National Recruitment Office (ANRO), part of NHS England, working closely with the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
  • At application, applicants choose one cluster: England and Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland. They are considered for appointment only to posts in the cluster they apply to.
  • The Anaesthetics recruitment process runs from longlisting to the MSRA, then online interviews, with offers based on each applicant's unique rank and preferences.
  • The online interview has two stations of 15 minutes each, a Clinical Judgement Station and a General Interview Station, with 2 assessors scoring each station.

ACCS Anaesthetics CT1 interview practice, on demand

MedMock gives you an AI interviewer who challenges your answers, available 24/7. Pick a station, have a spoken conversation, and ask for examiner-style feedback when you finish, scored against what genuinely matters in the ACCS Anaesthetics CT1.

How it works

1

Choose a station

Choose the kind of question or scenario you want to rehearse — ethics, motivation, a role-play, and more.

2

Have the conversation

Speak naturally, out loud. The AI interviewer listens and asks the demanding follow-ups, just as a real interviewer would.

3

Get instant feedback

The moment you finish, you get specific, examiner-style feedback and a score — what you did well, what cost you marks, and precisely what to fix before the next attempt.

Practise every scenario

MedMock covers the stations you will face in the ACCS Anaesthetics CT1 interview. Rehearse each one until it feels routine.

1

Clinical Judgement Station

Clinical Judgement & Decision Making, Reflective Practice, and Working Under Pressure (5 marks per domain per assessor). You have 5 minutes to read a clinical scenario before the 15-minute interview, and the assessor adds information as it goes on.

2

General Interview Station

Communication, Commitment to Specialty, and Teamwork (5 marks per domain per assessor). A 15-minute interview on your training to date, your commitment to anaesthetics, working in and leading teams, and the NHS and its influence on anaesthesia.
