Anaesthetics CT1, 2025 recruitment round (Round 1). NHS England competition ratios

  • Core Anaesthetics and ACCS Anaesthetics recruitment is coordinated by the Anaesthetics National Recruitment Office (ANRO), part of NHS England, working closely with the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
  • The online interview has two stations, a Clinical Judgement Station and a General Interview Station, run through Qpercom. Each station lasts 15 minutes and the whole process should take 50 minutes.
  • Each interview station is scored independently by 2 assessors.
  • The total interview score is out of 100. To be appointable, an applicant needs at least 60 out of 100 at interview, and the scaled MSRA score is then combined with the interview score.
  • The Clinical Judgement station covers Clinical Judgement and Decision Making, Reflective Practice and Working Under Pressure. The General Interview station covers Communication, Commitment to Specialty and Teamwork.
  • For anaesthesia, the MSRA contributes 15% of the total selection score, split equally between the Professional Dilemmas and Clinical Problem Solving papers at 7.5% each.

Anaesthetics — Core Training CT1 interview practice, on demand

MedMock gives you an AI interviewer who challenges your answers, available 24/7. Pick a station, have a spoken conversation, and ask for examiner-style feedback when you finish, scored against what genuinely matters in the Anaesthetics — Core Training CT1.

How it works

1

Choose a station

Choose the kind of question or scenario you want to rehearse — ethics, motivation, a role-play, and more.

2

Have the conversation

Speak naturally, out loud. The AI interviewer listens and asks the demanding follow-ups, just as a real interviewer would.

3

Get instant feedback

The moment you finish, you get specific, examiner-style feedback and a score — what you did well, what cost you marks, and precisely what to fix before the next attempt.

Practise every scenario

MedMock covers the stations you will face in the Anaesthetics — Core Training CT1 interview. Rehearse each one until it feels routine.

1

Clinical Judgement Station

Clinical Judgement & Decision Making, Reflective Practice, and Working Under Pressure (5 marks per domain per assessor). Candidate is given a 5-minute pre-read clinical scenario; the assessor adds information dynamically during the 15-minute interview.

2

General Interview Station

Communication, Commitment to Specialty, and Teamwork (5 marks per domain per assessor). 15-minute interview probing training to date, commitment to anaesthesia, experience of working in and leading teams, and wider NHS-in-anaesthesia awareness.
