Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics ST4, 2025 recruitment round (Round 2). NHS England competition ratios
- Clinical pharmacology and therapeutics (CPT) training is combined with general internal medicine (GIM), leading to dual accreditation in CPT and GIM.
- East of England is the lead recruiter for clinical pharmacology and therapeutics.
- The CPT interview has two stations of 20 minutes each and takes approximately 50 minutes. Four questions of 10 minutes each are marked alongside communication skills, giving six scored areas.
- Station 2 includes a presentation of no more than five minutes on 'An interesting recent development / research finding, relevant to clinical pharmacology & therapeutics', followed by a discussion on research and academic medicine.
- CPT does not assess commitment to specialty at shortlisting: applications are scored on the self-assessment scoring framework, and commitment is assessed at interview.
- The interview areas are weighted 1.6 for the clinical scenario, suitability and commitment, and presentation/research/academic; 1.2 for medical registrar suitability and the first communication mark; and 0.8 for the second communication mark.
