What is the Sport & Exercise Medicine ST3 interview, and how do you practise for it?
Physician Higher Specialty Training national recruitment interview for Sport & Exercise Medicine ST3: three 10-minute stations, each with its own pair of interviewers. Station 1 is suitability and commitment; at its end you are given a written clinical scenario to review for a short time. Station 2 discusses that scenario and also marks your communication skills. Station 3 is a brief written ethical scenario. Both interviewers mark each of the four scored areas from 1 to 5, giving a raw score of 8 to 40; the areas are weighted 2.5 for suitability and commitment, 2.5 for the clinical scenario, 1.2 for communication and 1.8 for the ethical scenario. To be appointable you need no score of 1, no more than two scores of 2 and a raw score of 24 or more. Here one examiner voice runs each station and there is no simulated patient. MedMock lets you practise it out loud against an AI interview panel, with examiner-style feedback on any station you finish.

MedMock covers the stations you will face in the Sport & Exercise Medicine ST3 interview. Rehearse each one until it feels routine.
Suitability and commitment
Station 1: a 10-minute question on your commitment to ST3 training in the specialty, giving you the opportunity to expand on the information in your application form. (Physician Higher Specialty Training Recruitment)
Clinical scenario
Station 2: a hypothetical clinical situation given to you in writing at the end of Station 1 and reviewed for a short time, then 10 minutes on the steps you would take, possible treatments, further information you would gather and how you would communicate with those involved. One mark is for your responses to the scenario and a separate mark is for your communication skills, with the people in the scenario and with the interviewers. (Physician Higher Specialty Training Recruitment)
Ethical scenario
Station 3: a brief written ethical scenario to review and discuss for about ten minutes, focused on the moral, ethical and legal considerations rather than clinical management.
