About Haematology (ST3) recruitment
Haematology ST3, 2025 recruitment round (Round 2). NHS England competition ratios
- For 2027 recruitment, the PHST page expects the lead recruiter for haematology to revert to South West Severn.
- The interview has two stations of 15 minutes each, with four questions of 7.5 minutes each. It takes approximately 40 minutes including the time between stations.
- One interview question is a presentation of no more than four minutes, on either an interesting case the applicant has been involved in or an interesting recent development or research finding in haematology. Visual aids are not allowed.
- The interview score is weighted: clinical scenario 2.5, professionalism and governance 2.5, suitability and commitment 1.8, and presentation 1.2, with a raw interview score out of 40.
- Entry to adult haematology training follows core training competences and requires success in MRCP(UK) or equivalent. Specialist training normally lasts five years, and the exit examination is the FRCPath.
- The specialty assesses commitment to specialty as part of shortlisting.
- Haematology also accepts applicants from a paediatric training pathway, in addition to core-level physician training.

“What have you done to test your commitment to haematology, and what would you bring to the training programme?”
